Salary: £22,000 pa | 6 month minimum contract

Purpose of the Role

To deliver, manage and maintain Theatre Delicatessen’s ‘Deli Studios’ at 30 Marsh Wall in line with Theatre Delicatessen’s mission and objectives. Responsibilities will include coordination and management of staffing, budgets, marketing, venue set up and maintenance. It is a varied role that combines management, on-the-ground manual work with desk time.

General Responsibilities

  • To maintain and manage excellent communication across the venue and wider organisation
  • To manage of studio staff and volunteers
  • To ensure a warm, clean, welcoming and creative space for all our users and visitors
  • To manage Studio systems, including budgeting, communication and marketing
  • To be the first point of contact for, and to deal with, all Studio enquiries
  • To manage budgets, finance, staff and stock, including developing the most efficient systems for recording sales, income and expenditure
  • To manage the recruitment of new venue staff and volunteers
  • To manage the staff rota alongside the reception team
  • To manage and maintain the common, breakout and shared spaces
  • To manage and maintain all documentation relating to Tower Hamlets Council including building regulations, environmental health and any other relevant departments
  • To source and manage external contractors and suppliers where necessary, that are cost efficient while delivering a high standard of work
  • To ensure that the venue is adhering to the highest possible standard of health and safety protocols, including fire safety, environmental health, building regulations and security
  • To ensure that all venue facilities and utilities are in full working order, to fix repairs needed quickly, and provide maintenance and cleaning of the space when needed
  • To manage waste disposal and recycling in the venue, including dealing with waste disposal contracts and ensuring the organisation is adhering to regulations
  • Regular auditing and maintenance of company assets and equipment including technical, electrical and build materials
  • Managing all correspondence, administration and bookings relating to event space hire
  • To manage the design and delivery of internal design of common spaces, with the support of the Senior Producer
  • To take on any other roles required by Theatre Delicatessen’s management team

Financial Responsibilities

  • To manage invoicing and accounts payable for Deli Studios in collaboration with the Company Co-ordinator and Reception team
  • To keep up-to-date running budgets and financial information and demographics for the Studios
  • To regularly liaise with the Executive team, providing financial reports and budget updates


  • Managing Deli Studios website
  • To manage the social media profile of Deli Studios, including the social media schedule
  • To identify, initiate and manage new ways of marketing Deli Studios
  • To manage the design and delivery of the venue frontage including the display of organisational information, with the support of the Senior Producer
  • To ensure that organisational marketing is prominently displayed across the venue
  • Contacting the local authority and educational institutes and initiate collaborations
  • To identify other opportunities to champion Theatre Delicatessen’s programme of events

Essential Attributes

  • An interest in the arts
  • Ability to self manage and self motivate
  • Experience of managing small teams
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships both internally and externally
  • The ability to efficiently and quickly problem-solve and find solutions
  • An ability to manage the detail while maintaining a view of the “big picture”
  • The ability to maturely deal with difficult people and create solutions
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure, with an ability to deal with a fast-moving, dynamic workplace
  • Experience of and confidence in using Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Google’s suite of cloud based IT systems
  • Experience of website administration, particularly in the use of WordPress, and Mailchimp
  • Experience of working with financial systems and budgets
  • Confident public spokesperson for the company with both internal and external stakeholders and clients

  • Being an advocate for Theatre Delicatessen, having a clear overview of all Theatre Delicatessen’s activities and how they relate to its charitable mission

  • Supporting artists – attending showcases, opening and press nights, providing feedback, and joining in when required

  • Ensure Theatre Delicatessen maintain the highest possible standards of communication and customer service


40 hours per week, 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be
necessary to fulfil the requirements of the post, including evenings and weekends.
£22,000 per annum
20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays
Contract type:
Fixed term 6-month contract, with potential to expand to permanent
2 months
Notice period:
1 week during probation period, 1 month thereafter
