It’s been seven years since the old Woolworths building was abandoned, yet much of the stockrooms, kitchens and offices are much as they stood. Equipped with nothing but a hand-drawn map and a flashlight, Theatre Delicatessen offer the chance for audiences to explore these dusty cloisters and discover diverse stories: eulogies in meat lockers, a funeral in a disused lavatory and a toe-tapping cult sermon in the staff canteen.
These site-sensitive performances are all presented in different stages of development – some especially created for Unaccompanied or already fully-formed pieces, while others form a ‘scratch’ as a stepping stone to a full-length piece. The themes covered are varied; they span memory, futurology, capital punishment, the apocalypse, and aging comedian Jim Davidson. After the event, each piece will be available to stream online using 360° video technology.
Doors open at 6.30pm, performances from 7.00pm
